Metal Gear employs some of the shittiest science I have ever seen.

@poulet7 Because he needed to make sure the Mk II was protected, they didn't know what they were going to find at the end of the hall, if snake had of stayed the robot would have been swarmed by those hand ball things and the virus would not have been uploaded . Snake was there to ensure everything wen't according to plan .

Notice how all of Snake's health is gone before the end, and only the pshyce gauge is depleting. By the end, the only thing keeping him alive is sheer willpower.
