From their debut ATLANTIC LP, 1966. Stereo LP in Mono cover. The hum you hear more at the beginning is in the recording.

  • You don't hear this version often. It stands up to the original - maybe even surpasses it.

  • You would think that any young band attempting to cover such a highly-regarded R&B song like "Midnight Hour" would embarrass themselves. But the Rascals did a very credible job. I wish this would be played once in a while on the oldies stations.

  • In my humble opinion, this is absolutely the best version. Thanks so much for posting.

  • The song was used by them in the movie The Big Chill (1982). Thanks for posting.

  • @MrBigben1952 When recording, Gene Cornish would play bass guitar most of the time. For live performances, Felix would use the bass pedals on his Hammond.

  • Felix utilzed the bass pedals of his Hammond B3 organ with dual Leslie boxes.

  • who played bass on the rascals songs whoever he is he 's good.

  • What's better than the hammond organ?
