The Schoeps CMC6 and MK4 combination is the classic combination for recording acoustic guitars in the recording studio. Detail, precision, accuracy and musicality typify these fantastic microphones. We utilize the Schoeps on some fantastic acoustic guitars from Lowden and Goodall, feeding some great mic preamps from Great River, The Great River MP2NV, and A Designs (both the Pacifica and MP2A). • How do you measure the microphone placement to evitate any phase issue ?

  • @xwigwango Great question -when using a spaced pair of mics it's impossible to eliminate all phase issues, due to the realities of spaced pairs. However, with careful positioning, mono-compatibility check, and analysis of the wave forms, you can essentially find which microphones much come forward, or back so as to "play nice" with the other. While some trial and error is always necessary, using a pair of headphones summed to mono can help. Wave form inpsection is more scientific. That help?

  • @soundpurestudios Yeah thanks, I started to read more about different stereo placements, a/b, ortf, XY etc.

  • @xwigwango If there is anything more you would like to know we have Grammy nominated and platinum selling engineers on staff, we will be more than happy to answer any and all questions you may have!! Please feel free to call or email anytime!!

  • I was going to comment something that is opposite of your review but realized I'm watching at 360p. When I switched to HD, phew that really sounded great!

  • @jamestakeshi Great point- yes, the 360p doesn't really do any of our videos justice. That being said, if ever you are interested, you can request us some high resolution audio files, by e-mailing us mics@soundpure(dot)com

  • How do you measure the mic placement to evitate any phase issues ?

  • @sonicsuitcase Thanks for your comment... their accuracy can be unforgiving, which is perhaps what you are alluding to. But, we have even more detailed/accurate microphones than Schoeps- the funny thing is, compared to some of these even more detailed microphones, we call the Schoeps "more musical and forgiving." I think you are right on the money- if the instrument you place these in front of is right, the Schoeps will deliver a first-rate sound. Thanks for posting...

  • @viceadmiraal61 Thanks for the comment. We own many of the Schoeps capsules here at the studio, and depending on what sound we are looking for, often use the MK21's and the MK2H's as well. The best part about the Schoeps collette series is that there is tremendous versatility in adding a set of capsules, and the incredible quality is always there.

  • a have only schoeps mics..but for the guitar a like the mk 21 h better....

and from the pre amp the first one is the best a think...
