@rorybone100 I loved the songs from the later series'. The covers on BNO were funny, like coming out on the back of Mr Birdseye's motorbike singing This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius, but they still couldn't compete with songs like I've Got a New Hoover, FREEDOM JUSTICE, Cottage Cheese, and At Least We've Got Our Guitars. And I think Marvin and Otis was one of the most geniusly side-splitting things I'd ever seen. I'm genuinely astonished when I hear people say they don't get Vic.

@SquishedButterfly "Windmills" used to make me angry in a who-the-hell-buys-this-crap kinda way. It took V&B's genius to show me the funny side. I think this was the start of the first series of "Smell" and I remember being moist with anticipation after the success of Big Night Out. They didn't disappoint.

@rorybone100 Windmills of the Mind is ludicrously funny even without a parody. Vic obviously thought so :)

am I allowed to say that I think both Vic Reeves and Julian Barrett are comic geniuses?

@Grymbaldknight Couldn't agree more, but it is a fairly savage piss take of the nonsensical lyrics of "Windmills of the Mind". Any time I hear that now I start thinking about this and laugh.

Mighty Boosh I give E for effort, but no, they can't hold a candle to this. Good comedy is both observational and absurd, and trying conform to a particular social norm called "coolness" only self censors the range of subjects you can make fun of and how you make fun of them. Geeks have always been the best comedians. No boundaries.
absolute genius, anyone who thinks the Mighty Boosh is better than this are wrong in their heads.
