    I'm pretty sure "Michael" is just a representation of the average gamer. So the advert is sort of aimed at all of us as gamer's. We are all Michael. Or something like that. I do not believe it is about Michael Mamaril, i struggle to believe they would make a huge marketing commercial on the basis of one guy who passed away.

    Michael Mamaril was a huge Borderlands fan who died of a terminal illness a couple of years ago and Gearbox put him in as a random NPC in Borderlands 2 who hands out awesome loot as a tribute.
