Rt 922 - BK Butler built 3 Channel tube Guitar Preamp. Bk Butler is best known for his tube Driver pedal but this guitar preamp sounds great. It has a clean, dirty and then stacked channel which cascades both channels. All 3 channels are available on the footswitch.

  • what amp are you playing on? I mean, you say just clean amp but it must be important what kind of amp? tube amp? doesn't the Butler blend with the flavor of the preamp you're playing through? If you answer you will help me a lot

  • I was playing it through a single channel vintage club crate set clean (input gain low high master) but it is running into a single vintage 30 miked with a 57. I sold the preamp more than a year ago but I still have the crate head (I have a couple videos of that amp here too). Honestly any tube head set clean would yield similar results.

  • what kind of power amp are you playing this through?

  • It was just run straight into the input of a clean guitar amp.

  • I just bought one because of your vid! Thank you. What amp are you running this through. I am not getting close to this tone. Did you switch out the tubes or are they stock? Finally, what are your settings? THANKS

  • It was completely stock although changing the tubes may make an improvement. Different preamp tubes of the same output are really just different flavors to match the tone with the tone of your guitar and amp/poweramp. I just turned the knobs a lot and your amp and speaker matter a lot.

  • Sounds great. Good stuff man.

  • @mcrazy4fx I know this is old, but I'm guessing you might want to just dial up a much cleaner tone on the Line 6 or try Peavey ReValver (there's a free demo). I liked using Line 6 as a preamp for ReValver but am looking for a better way rather than running a bunch of software.

  • Wish my Crates would've lasted long enough for me to try this with them. Will never buy Crate again. Good speakers, bad electronics. This sounds great, especially the Holy Wars part (that was the song?).

  • TRUE preamps are designed to color the sound, noise is generated 1 in front or behind another. I say TRUE Preamp like Korg A3 is a preamp w/ effects but the Preamp can be softened or eliminated. My dilemma: 3 Tube Pres and Line 6 Pod Pro. Cannot run any before the other, harmonics are to muddy or noisy. Have no effects than a simply A/B/C switch will allow you to select the Preamp you want to power up. If you have an effects rack well you are out of luck unless you can afford a Bradshaw system.

  • How does this compare to the 902 rackmount? I cant find a demo for it

  • nice sounding harmonics on the stacked... I'm betting with some EQing this thing could be a great addon for a boogie as it's a bit more marshally...

  • Hi,

    i would be interested too.

If it is current, please let me know

    greetings

  • it's my screen name with an aol address
