mini lathes don't come stock with QCTPs. You have to buy those separate.

(airgun parts anyone?) looks like a really capable setup ! -and- polish is better done with chromium oxide (the green stuff) on a hard cotton buff - sandpaper takes away too much material with one careless move. You set it up to a ten thou, why take twice that with sandpaper? Ok for pens, but not for (ok just me) gunsmithing...

Thanks for the help.
The outside did not need turning and therefore making it shiney first cuts off a finished product. This brass rod is pretty dull to start with.
It can tarnish later for all I care, but I want it looking good to ship.
It's really not that visible in the finished product anyway.
If you have ever turned things on a wood lathe, this is where I learned to polish using varied grits of sandpaper. Think turned pens.
How do you get the cutoff tool to work so well? When I try to use it, I usually end up throwing the part, and blowing the fuse in the mini lathe.

@wally53511 I have just a little steeper angle sharpened on these tools. They generally only need to cut brass and plastic and occasional aluminum, so that works well. I also keep them very sharp. Other than that, nothing special.
Thanks.
