Finally got an old Kenwood TS-120S up and running and put a12 foot inverted V antenna in the attic and hooked it up to an antenna tuner. Not happy at all with the performance of the antenna - but I've got to try (I live in an antenna restricted area). I was able to hear Las Vegas, but couldn't hear the Peoria Illinois station (probably because he had his antenna turned toward Las Vegas and I was catching the Las Vegas beam aimed at me.)

  • @bilbo1961 I was just setting up an old Kenwood TS-120 rig at the time and could hear the Vegas station, but not you in Illinois. I figured that had to do with the Vegas station possibly having a directional beam pointed at you and the same applied for the Chicago station. I was also testing an inverted V homemade DiPole so figured that might have something to do with it.

  • I am KB9DAK, Thomas Moore from Havana, IL and I have that contact in my log but I don't hear myself on your rig. I was curious about what I sounded like. I am running a Kenwood TS-2000 into a Ameritron ALS-1300 and with a Cushcraft A3S w/40 meter add on. Maybe I had no propagation to your QTH.
