A warlord unrivalled on the battlefield, Macbeth is rewarded with rank and favour by a grateful king.
But with each enemy butchered in his master's defence, Macbeth's own desire for the crown grows until, driven to distraction by greed, he ferociously seizes the throne. But, violence breeds violence, and a reign born in blood quickly spirals out of control as Macbeth's actions return to destroy him.
RSC Artistic Director Michael Boyd directs the first new production in the transformed Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Jonathan Slinger plays Macbeth following his acclaimed performances as Richard II and Richard III in the award winning 2006--2008 Histories Cycle.
Macbeth opens at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford-upon-Avon on 16 April and plays in repertoire until 6 October.

I really really really wanted to see this with my school, but we missed it and saw Cardenio instead - which was absolutely incredible all the same :)

@cancerkills567 The music is from the Baz Luhrmann movie of Romeo and Juliet with Leonardo di Caprio and Clare Danes. It is uploaded, if you paste 'Romeo + Juliet Original Score ♫ Slow Movement - Craig Armstrong - 1996' into the search bar, you'll find the entire piece.

@cancerkills567 It was an Irish actor. His name is Aiden Kelly. He is understudying for Slinger because he has been in a motorbike accident (He's ok though btw)

I saw it on the 6th September 2011, and I swear it wasn't Slinger playing Macbeth (not that I'm complaining, the actor was great) because he had a heavy scotish accent. Maybe there was a change of cast, or Slinger put on an accent, but I'd like to know the name of the actor. Also - does anyone know the name of this tune?

Must go and see this! Slinger has always been great in everything I've seen so far so don't want to miss him here. Love the trailer, very gripping.

A absolutely stunning production of Macbeth. I saw it two weeks ago during a weekend trip with my school and everyone in our party was impressed. All of the actors were amazing and the children were amazing performers for their age - my teacher was so scared by them that she actually went sleepwalking that night. Totally recommended.
