Mohammad Reza Kasrani, political activist and reporter and participant in the July 1999 student protests at Tehran University, directly mentioned Ahmad Batebi was and is an Islamic Republic's agent in Student movement.

Before then, Kasrani wrote in a letter published January 9 that he had been arrested "because of the knowledge that I had about the ‎National Front, Iran Freedom Movement and the Mellat Iran party, and because I was an ‎activist of the National Front." He described severe torture and beatings that he experienced in jail, saying he was "‎beaten until blood would gush from my feet and there would be no life left in them. I ‎would then return to my cell like a lifeless vegetable. I could not even stand up for my ‎prayers."‎
