Wighnomy Brothers are an electronic music duo from Jena, Germany composed of Gabor Schablitzki (aka Robag Wruhme) and Sören Bodner (aka Monkey Mafia). Wighnomy Brothers' live mixes include an eclectic blend of deep house, minimal techno, jazz, and soul, and their original releases are infused with a unique deep-house sound. They have released their music on Freude-Am-Tanzen, Kompakt, Vakant, and other electronic music labels.
Sascha Funke is a Dj and producer from Berlin/Germany under the BPitch Control Music Label. BPitch Control is a German techno record label founded in 1999 in Berlin by DJ and producer Ellen Allien. In 1992 she became resident DJ at the legendary Tresor club in Berlin's Potsdamer Platz. At around the same time, she started her own show on the Berlin radio station Kiss-FM and created her own record label, calling them both Braincandy, before setting Bpitch Control up in 1999. The label has since launched the careers of popular production outfits, such as Modeselektor and Apparat. Ellen Allien, born Ellen Fraatz, is a German electronic musician, music producer and founder of BPitch Control music label. She lives in Berlin, Germany. She sings in both German and English. She has said that one of the main inspirations for her music is the culture of reunified Berlin. Her album Stadtkind was dedicated to the city. Her music tends to be difficult to classify stylistically and is best described as a distinctive blend of IDM and electro music, which is dance-floor oriented, yet at the same time has noticeable experimental elements.
Kompakt is a Cologne-based electronic music record label and vinyl/CD distributor, owned by, Michael Mayer and Jürgen Paape. They specialize in microhouse and minimal techno, and are known for their Total compilation series which reached its eleventh installment in 2010.
Kompakt originated from a techno record store that was opened in Cologne in 1993 (under the name "Delirium") by Wolfgang Voigt, Reinhard Voigt, Jörg Burger and Jürgen Paape, who were soon joined by Michael Mayer. Kompakt itself was formally founded in 1998, combining several existing labels, the record store and distributor and also event organizing activities. Techno and electronic artists, such as The Orb, Thomas Fehlmann, The Field, Jonas Bering, Aril Brikha and others have released material on Kompakt. Tobias Thomas, born April 1970 in the south of Germany, is a member of the inner circle of the Cologne based electronic label Kompakt since the early nineties. He is working as a professional DJ since 1990, was involved in many cooperations & projects like Forever Sweet, Thomas/Mayer and did a number of remixes alongside Dettinger, Superpitcher, Jörg Burger, Geiger, Michael Mayer, Ada and Reinhard Voigt.
Monolake is an electronic music act based in Berlin. Originally consisting of members Gerhard Behles and Robert Henke, Monolake is now perpetuated by Henke while Behles focuses on running music software company Ableton, which they founded in 1999 together with Bernd Roggendorf. In fall 2004, Torsten Pröfrock became a member of Monolake.Monolake is named after Mono Lake, which is east of the Sierra Nevada in California.
Henke is a software engineer who develops custom software and hardware for live performances. As well as working as an engineer for Ableton, Henke designed the Atlantic Waves software for performing live with other producers in different countries simultaneously. In 2003, Henke designed the Monodeck, a midi-controller interface for spontaneous editing and effects work during live performances, even without having to look at the computer screen. The Monodeck and its successor, Monodeck II, control Ableton through patches designed with Max/MSP.
