With Joe and Melissa-
Melissa: How do you think I got away with everything that I have? The attention is always on you. Everything I do is always pushed aside.
Joe: Are you seriously bringing that up now? Of all the things you could blame this on.
Melissa: I'm not trying to put the blame anywhere else. Why would you think that?
Joe: Its easy. Why would you come clean now? You kept everything a secret. You're not going to tell them the truth. Who are you trying to fool here?
Melissa opened her mouth to retort, but no words came out.
Melissa: Everyone. (Tears began to fall rapidly from her eyes.) I hate people always thinking that they understand me and why I do things. Half the time I don't even know. So you know what, you're right. Its all a show. I'm total fake. You're right, okay!
Joe: Melissa, that's not true. You know who you are. You just get lost sometimes.
Melissa: I hate this! I cant take it anymore. I fucking hate all of this!
Joe: Calm down, just take a second to cool off and then we can—
Melissa: No! Just leave me alone.
This was the biggest fight I had ever gotten into with Joe, ever. I ran to my room and slammed the door. Maybe it was childish, but I sat and cried. That's when I finally knew what I had to do. I couldn't stand keeping all the secrets anymore. I couldn't stand all the lying. I had to clear everything up. All I had to do was to find the courage to get up from my bed and track down my parents. I didnt have the courage to tell them before, how would I be able to tell them now? I couldn't find the right words. Would their reaction be worse than how I feel now? I had to forget all of this and just do it. I flung open my bedroom door and quickly made my way to the living to find my parents already sitting there. I spoke quickly, before I had the chance to change my mind.
Melissa: I need to tell you something.
Denise: I think you're right.
In her lap was a copy of the National Enquirer. Both my parents had already seen the pictures and were just waiting for the real story from me. I wasn't positive, but I'm pretty sure that this made things worse.
Melissa: So, it looks like you already know what this is about.
Kevin Sr.: I don't even know where to being. Start explaining.
They wanted to know everything. I guess that was the best approach, but I guess I'm the last person to know anything about good judgment. I couldn't keep this any longer. They needed to know. The only question was could I tell them?
