Acer aspire one with Ubuntu 9.04 netbook remix :)

This is my aspire one with ubuntu 9.04 nbr.

This aspire one originally came with linpus linux.

I installed it myself using a 1gb flash drive (memory stick)

I wasnt sure If I wanted to do this in case it messed up my whole laptop. But it actually came out pretty well.

Here are my ratings out of 5 for ubuntu 9.04 nbr

Speed----- 3/5

connection----- 2/5

Installing more-----------5/5
applications




easy to use ------------ 4/5

Over all considering that the internet boot up time and over all speed is not as fast as the os that came installed.

I would say If you want to do more with your machine try ubuntu.

But if you just use your aspire one for simple tasks like checking email and browsing. Keep the original linux that came with your machine.

Also you can actually try using ubuntu 9.04 with out installing on your machine or have both linpus and ubuntu.

Have you noticed the low video performance of this version because of the buggy intel 950 video drivers? Ubuntu says it's going to be fixed on the 9.10 release. So I recommend using 8.04, the video performance is much better in earlier versions.

I might but right now I just installed xubuntu 9.04 and it is quite a bit faster than the ubuntu nbr

download it from add and remove programs and then open terminal and type compiz
