Why don't you go and read about Nuclear Fusion, not the same as fission. This is the same type of power that our sun uses to make so big lights, Guess what it's the same and it lasts for a very, long time. Why don't you and all of the other simple people look beyond your nose. Coal is dirty, fission is dirty. Fusion is the answer. Don't waste your time trying to explain science to liberals. Many of these anti-coal activists embrace ethanol (C2H5OH), even though they both produce the same carbon dioxide when burned.

Methane is twenty times as potent of a greenhouse gas as CO2, and both are produced naturally by every animal on the planet.

I wouldn't be surprised if Al Gore is behind this group. Coal is his biggest competitor, and if the "green" companies he owns aren't making money, then Al Gore isn't making money.

Nuclear energy is the answer to our coal problem. No current energy source provides enough constant power or base power, except nuclear. If Americans could just get past the stigma that comes with nuclear power we'd be much better off.

Morons... :-( If you eliminate the coal fire plants on campus they will still get their power/heat from coal, but it will just be generated somewhere else. All you are doing is adding more efficiency drops by adding more steps.

Coal is likely the clean option for generating enough heat for an entire campus. Natural gas is probably an option too, but I already pay enough for school without adding that cost.

You should find a solution, and then feel free to bitch.

Very well, the Sierra Club doesn't like coal power. How shocking.

The real question then is what will replace coal? Your favorites wind, solar, etc. don't make up enough power to replace what would be lost by eliminating coal. You are against nuclear energy.

It's fine to be against coal but before we start taxing everyone that uses it to death we need a replacement that FULLY makes up for it. This way businesses can still have power and provide jobs.

Love this - very funny. And Ewak, coal is actually only responsible for 42% of US energy supply, according to the latest government EIA stats. We need to keep transitioning away from it and toward clean energy.
