Pope John Paul II is my Secular Franciscan name sake. Bringing Christ's message of truth and hope in a world of despair, his voice resonates still. I pray that we are wise enough to listen.

  • I would have liked for him to have stayed with us longer too. Ora pro nobis Papa.

  • @TheAcole88

He prays for us, and thus continues to do the Father's work.

    Pax et Bonum

  • John Paul 11 was not better. We are all created equal. But he was courageous and faithful. He opened up to the Creator and showed by example what can happen when we rightly worship and connect with our creative source. We are made by God and for God. Can anyone here create a tree, sea or star? Bow down and be released into a most powerful, energetic love.

  • "John Paul 11 was not better"

If you are familiar with his written work, you will know that is what he always believed.

  • "cannonized on the spot"? I asked who Jesus said was your neighbor. Choose whatever you like, but if you're going to attack my Catholic faith in public, I will defend my church and my friends.

  • John Paul is the greatest pope we had ever had. He's the real saint of our times. Santo subito.

  • @ixtoc999 You have suggested the Church has made some great errors. You have suggested that JP 2nd was the cause of those errors. Can you trace a clear link between cause of these errors and the errors themselves? Are you merely pulling the speck from his eye? For example, you say 'the Pope' brought the Church down in numbers. The historical fact is all Christian religions were declining in numbers after 1960. You seem to be attributing failures to JP 2nd that are not apparently his failures.

Well, said. I think mjrooney7 probably have never read any of Pope John Paul II's writings. PJII always talked about Jesus and calls us to turn to him. He always wanted us to have a relationship with the Lord. Pope John Paul II is indeed the successor of St. Peter.

Before John Paul II died, he never admitted that he is perfect. So he goes to confession on a weekly basis so that he is always in communion with God.

  • this is a saint!

  • But a good man is better than a bad man. To quote an old hollywood classic. justice is better than injustice and a man that shows mercy is superior to a man that shows cruelty. JP2 was aware of his imperfections but he was a man that tried his best and is rightly held up as The Great so that we ordinary people may attempt to follow in his footsteps.

  • Hi Mapollo, I have 2 questions, could you help me? I feel my heart afraid and in troubled, how can I heal this? and What is the holy spirit? I'll apreciate your help.

    Peace and good.

  • My apologies. Your words seemed to suggest that JP believed himself to be better than others. Clearly that was not your intent!

    Pace e bene.

  • Hello,

I am unclear as to what you mean. If you read what I have written carefully you will see that is exactly what I have said.
