Michael Tilson Thomas conducting the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra in a very high-powered 4th movement of Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4 in F minor.

Compare this with Barenboim's version also on my channel, and you'll see two excellent performances, similarly high energy levels, but very different styles of conducting.

It makes me sad that amazing music like this is only getting 142,349 views while Rebecca Black and Justin Bieber are getting way into the millions. I don't wanna live in this world anymore. People's perception on real talent is dead. If our most famous artists are digitally enhanced people "singing" the same chord progression... I quit. Tchaikovsky is simply amazing. The musicians in this orchestra (along with Chicago Symphony, and New York Phil, etc) are the epitome of talent.

Incredible brass, comparable with the Chicago SO! Wish they'd put a camera on those guys more often.

In fairness, I listened to a lot of crap in my youth, but as you get older you will appreciated the beauty and magnificence of classical musical, not all people, but some. It is slowly dying, but it does have incredible staying power.

Even when this music was composed the most popular music was idiots sitting on a haystack next to their barns with shit all over the place playing some simplistic music that anybody with a weeks worth of practice could master. Times haven't changed, enjoy that you can understand the value of this music and don't misjudge the value of simpler music.

You can actually hear the tuba at about 9 min. in. Usually the low brass is overlooked--ib both miking and camera.

MTT's huge smile at the end gives me goosebumps. I can't imagine how amazing it would feel to be on the receiving end of that: a world-renowned conductor saying, "hey folks, you just played one of the hardest and most exciting symphonies ever written, and you NAILED IT."

Holst's Second Suite in F is pretty good. But it's still nothing like this.
