This was good until you started slagging two strokes, two strokes rule the only reason people ride 4 stokes is because they cant handle the power of a 2 stroke.

Sorry I did not slagg 2 strokes I love them on my own. I only wanted to tell the story about the 1997 season and the first 4 stroke in supercross which started the hole thing about 4 strokes in pro racing like we see today.I miss the early 2 stroke days ass well as you.

..."97" was a kick arse year for motocross..exciting racing in both in and out doors...Jermery mcgrath,ezra lusk,Greg albertyn,mike craig,doug henry,ryan hughes,the rock,larry ward,john doud,jeff emig,jimmy button,mike brown,brian swink,kevin windham....Four strokes are like tampons.."Every pussy needs one"....2Strokes rule!!!!!

an incredible year for supercross.....maybe the worst season ever for mcgrath..but however amazing battles and races!!!

if you watch very closely, you can see larocco #8 and mcgrath #1, both on factory suzukis, yet mcgrath is running the upside down forks from 1996 and larocco is running the 97 model rightside up showas. 97 was also the first year for an aluminum frame (honda), which is the whole reason mcgrath bailed to suzuki.

first 4 stroke? lol. no. lance smail was on a ktm 620cc 4 stroke about 2 years prior. he just never made mains. a 4 stroke husaberg won the world gp championship about 3 years prior. jacky something or other. henry's bike had a billet aluminum motor that year. the whole damn thing was machined from a solid chunk of aluminum. i went to three races this season. flat tire cost mcgrath the title in charlotte, which was also windhams first 250cc win.

uhmm, I don't have anything agains 2 strokes, bus even though, I don't get what you say.... cause "i" (4stroke rider) get confronted by 2stroke riders who say: You guys (4stroke riders) are in advance cause you got more pwr, and faster bikes...

and I'm riding for a prety long time now, that I can say: all these talks are bulshit:P

I make holeshots, and so are the 2strokes. when I get out of a turn, I accelerate just as fast as a 2stroke, no matter how fast, or what line I choose;)

I grew up riding with Jimmy Button, the guy at the beginning with Jeremy McGrath. Great guy, Great trainer. wish i raced passed 10 yrs old

Me and my wife were at that Vegas race when Henry won on the 4-stroke. I did'nt really think about the history of the race at the time, but looking back at it now, I am so grateful to have been there to see that. I remember how strange his bike sounded throughout the night. There were all these 2-strokes screaming around the track and in the middle of it all you could hear Henry's bike making this low farting growl every time he twisted the throttle. It was an awesome night =)
