Rubbish Driving from a Rubbish Driver :)

Okkaay, few people said to write to Biffa...and here's what I said.

To Whom it May Concern,
When I was cycling to work this morning, I was pulled out on in the last second by one of your drivers.

Due to the number of close overtakes and experiences of poor driving I have experienced, I use a helmet camera when cycling to work and footage of the incident has been uploaded onto youtube:

Unfortunately due to a camera error part of the clip is missing, however you can see how late he left it and how close I came, even with swerving and braking.

I am emailing to ask you to remind the driver to wait patiently at junctions, rather than pulling out onto other road users in the future. Along with this, please can you remind this driver to give extra care in regard to cyclists.

This incident occurred around 9 o'clock (05/06/09) on the junction of Woodlands Rd and Oaklawn RD, Leatherhead.

I am sure this is not the standard of driving you expect from your drivers as the load in the back, shouldn't influence their driving style.

Biffa have emailed back and apologised. The footage is also going to be used as part of their training programme.

Good news about Biffa, did you tell them the video was on YouTube?

yep, my letter is in the description.  Their depot manager saw it and asked for the footage.

It doesn't matter that the camera cut out, it's obvious you were dealing with an impatient driver.

At least it didn't cut out the entire incident like I thought it might! Got enough on it.

He does need to be reported. Theres little reason why he should not see you. Next it will be another cyclist or a motorcyclist

Possibly. Might send them an email as I've had a few overtake reasonbly close further back on that road (not really close enough to fuss - but enough to feel uneasy). I'll let you know :)
