The Cosby Show

The Cosby Show was and still is one of the greatest sitcoms in television history. It ran for 8 seasons from 1984-1992.

In this episode:
Clair receives a call from the school nurse and learns that Rudy has gotten her period. She makes plans for "Women's Day," a family tradition in which Clair spends a fun day with her daughter and answers any questions that she might have.

  • @Bitesize1991 true it hurts like hell

  • @zazozung hmmmm interesting that you mentioned you're a psychotherapist. I'm a psychology major and it's my goal to ultimately become a psychotherapist. I'm obviously not as advanced as you are but from watching the show I think he was a good father because like I stated before he displayed an authoritative style of parenting. I would like know your reasoning as to why you think cliff was not a good father but Archie Bunker was because I don't agree.

  • @chrisbwirey Most of the humor from Cosby Show came from Bill Cosby teasing his children. There's also a belief among psychotherapists that Bill Cosby himself is not a good father. I am one of them.

  • @zazozung I'm sure he would and he did since both elvin (and his grandchildren) and Martin (and olivia) moved into the house when his daughters came back home. He didn't tease his children. he was an authoritative parent; he was a disciplinarian but he also gave his children the free will to be who they wanted to be.

  • @chrisbwirey Would Cliff Huxtable allow his son-in-law to live with him rent free? Would Cliff Huxtable pay for his son-in-law's apendix operation? Of course he wouldn't. Cosby teased his children relentlessly.

  • @saroshig Yes, I am here. And I was also "there" to watch classic '70s shows as they aired. Cosby simply doesn't compare. But I guess white guilt ensured that The Cosby Show would succeed.

  • @BennyB5555 Although the Cosby Show wasn' t all that funny. Compare it to classic sitcoms from the '70s. Cosby Show can't carry a candle to All In The Family, Mary Tyler Moore, Good Times, Sanford and Son, etc. People loved the show because they have a hard on for Bill Cosby and, let's face it, white guilt.

  • @zazozung: Why are you here?

  • Lmao:) the way danny said time of the month was so freakin funny. I luv this show bill cosby is one of my favorite actors i can't believe they stopped making this show

  • I would say for anyone in their 30's or 40's growing up with this show - it was like the Leave it to Beaver if the 80's. It was a family show with comedy for that era. I remember my parents getting most of the dialog that might have gone over my head. I do not remember this show though? Yikes!

They are New Yorkers not some family from a small "timid" town in the midwest. Make sense?
