    if you asume he threw the ball directly at his peer, then your right. However he could have thrown it in such a way as to counter the tangential velocity and actually hit the point where his peer was initially. It was probably easier to see the effect by having a horizontal trajectory anyways

    But doesn't the "C" effect have an actual effect on the long range, meaning a mile and over, even then it's negligible or so I hear. just my limited undestanding, I dont claim t be an expert. Just watch a lot of movies

    You have to lead because of the travel time of the bullet along with the Coriolis effect.
