Muscle spasms are a very common symptom of an underlying ligament or joint instability problem. The most common body area that patients complain of chronic muscle spasms is in the low back. In this video, Dr. Ross Hauser explains how comprehensive Prolotherapy, as done at Caring Medical in Chicago land, corrects the ligament laxity problem allowing the surounding muscles to relax and actually gives more motion and flexibiliy to the area. If you are suffering from chronic muscle spasms and chiropractic or physical therapy care is not providing permanent results, please contact us for a Prolotherapy consultation at: http://www.caringmedical.com/therapies/prolotherapy.asp

@missanna208802 Good question. That is not the job of the muslces though. The ligaments are what hold the joint together, and muscles move the joint and then relax, move, relax. But when they need to do the job of a ligament, that's when problems like spasms begin. There is a lot of research available on Prolotherapy and its proposed mechanism of healing, but it the injections basically trigger the body's inflammatory helaing cascade and allows the body to strengthen collagen.

So how does being stabbed repeatedly with a needle help to stabilize the si joint? Wouldn't it just cause more scar tissue in the body in all of the places that are stuck with the needle? Wouldn't strengthening of the muscles around the si joint or whatever be better? Then the body could hold itself together, right?
