I've been asked to do a disassembly video. While there isn't a video that could cover all 1911s, I hope to show that it is necessary to pay close attention to your manual and the manufacturer's suggested take down.

  • I like this lady's videos, but it does seem like she isn't always looking down the barrel when she racks the slide to check that the gun is empty. Without looking, she could just as easily have chambered a round instead.

  • @erikwood In most of my videos (especially the older ones) my camera is nothing more than the webcam on my computer and I see everything I'm doing on my computer screen. Everything I show "you" I see myself and so when I show "you" that the firearm is clear I'm seeing it myself. Not to mention that all firearms are triply safety checked before recording ever even stars.

  • Well, I'm not a novice. You could take all of my handguns, disassemble them and throw their parts in the box, shake it up and dump it on a table and I could put them all back together with not so much as a recoil spring being put in the wrong firearm.

And, in the description of my video I specifically say, "I hope to show that it is necessary to pay close attention to your manual.." Note: I said manual.. not me.

I also say as much in my video. Not sure why that steps so heavily on your toes.

  • @limalife Everytime I do work on a 1911, I can't help but feel for the soldiers in WWI and WWII who had to field strip their 1911 while under fire.

  • In my experience, the bushing tool is a must for Kimber 1911s. The recoil spring cap does not have the nice textured flat surface that my Ruger 1911 has.

  • daaaang, pretty face and gun smarts? that's hot.

  • Ok my goodness ! I love you !!!!

  • Good video lady. You look very nice today.

  • Guess what i did while i watched this..........cleaned my gun!

  • nice to see some one who knows what 1911s are all about. would like to see you shoot them some time! thanks..

  • Wow! You are a ultimate 1911 expert.

  • I liked the video, especially the way you were able to field strip 3 different 1911's and reassemble them correctly. I liked it when you said 'I would show you how to remove the KIMBERS 2 stage spring assembly but I don't want to', that made me laugh. Keep up the good work on these videos, I can learn from all is my MOTTO. FYI, there is a slip on tool made of plastic that holds the spring slightly compressed, it aids on the takedown and is better suited then the metal wire suppplied by KIMBER.

  • @erikwood As my old USAF D.I. used to say 'YA WON'T DO THAT AGAIN NOW WILL YA? (sorry for the CAPS lock just had D.I. flashbacks) really though, we were taught to clear the weapon and handle it in the 'safely cleared fashion' with the breech/slide locked back. Some individuals without military training may think just racking the slide is sufficent. It only takes 1 round of ammunition to ruin your day. (see DI comments). She seems to be very knowledgeable, she stated the weapon cleared before.
