It works to lull you so as to preoccupy yourself about trivial local happenings and encourages you to contribute to consumerism without considering race, gender, sexual, class, or nation injustices.

Whoever made this, I fully support you. You are onto something so big and ubiquitous that most people (most white people, anyway) don't notice. Nice work noticing the overwhelmingly obvious. That is often the hardest thing to see. Folks who don't see it, or won't or can't see it, that's because it's working so well on you.
