This is my Vista Ultimate HTPC I have been working on for around a year.In my set up I have had the goal of building a home media set up with out the need to go to my desk top and I think I achieved that.Okay what I have done.
I turned the video library in to my music video library because i love to watch my music(1284 videos).I have put all Music videos On one 25og hard drive with lots of room left.Now my music section has 2222 cd's in the collection every one with covers.Next I had a hard time trying to find a way of including my Tv collection with 95 DVD's to my media section the whole time wanting every thing to have its own place so I search and came across video browser and found that If I put the TV Series dvd's in my video folder and then hid them only video browser could see them so that gave me the ability to separate my dvd library from my tv library.them I used the vista reg hack to open up the dvd library and added 440 dvd titles to that collection spread from three hard drives.Every dvd and tv series dvd has the info such as Year,actors,brief story line,Ect.I then filled my Picture Library with random pictures just to fill it up.I then wanted to add games so I came across emucenter and It was great.Giving me the ability to add my games with cover and game info in to media center and with a click of the button media center is lowered and the game is raised and with another click of the button the game is closed and media center is brought back up.I have 11 Game systems installed at this time with over 20,000 thousand games again wit cover except for mame games I use games snaps.I use the xbox 360 wireless control for gaming.After that I needed the ability to surf the net in media center and along came browser for media center which worked perfect.Now all I was missing was Email and around a month ago I found Email for media center and that completed my Media center.I'm Always looking for new Ideas so If you have any let me know.

  • Cool setup. What is the range like on the keyboard?

  • I use Windows media center Keyboard so About 50 to 100ft?But the mce remote runs everything, so really no need for a keyboard unless surfing online.

  • How are you using an Xbox 360 controller to play your games, do you have the Xbox system hooked up with this set up?

  • Awesome program library. All those classic games. Love it.

  • how u made that theme ir where did you get i t

  • Can you please tell me how you get the DVD box art to appear? When I ripped and converted all my DVD's all I get is a crappy generic Windows icon.

  • thanks.

  • start Media Center and go to...

    settings-->general-->startup and windows behavior

    select "start windows media center when windows starts"

    done.

    As far as choosing between Media Center and Myth (i've used both so ive got zero fan-boy commitments to either of them) It really depends on how comfortable you are using Linux. WMC in Win7 is fantastic but Myth was doing most of WMC's new tricks 7-8 years ago... if Linuix is a chore for you go with WMC.

  • i am thinking of building my own media center, maybe Myth TV (MythUbuntu) or simply using windows media center. If i do use windows media center (windows 7 home premium) how do i configure it to have windows media center start up when rebooting.
