Part 1 on the Romero/Muller Replication.

I apologize for aysing ummmmm about 100 time in the video, will try harder next time :) ummmm

Just the Drive circuit plates to get finished and a few more bits.
Been a big build this one, lets hope it shows results!!

    Give us time, it only been a couple of weeks !!

    Coils are being re-wound to the same Spec as Romero's then Part 3 will be posted.

  • Hi Clanzer, Romero had additional diodes ontop the bridge rectifiers to have less losses from the bridge rectifiers... so he could pull more amps without too much voltage losses at the rectifier. That is all...

    Trying to stay true to the Romero replication, but we all know we get 0.7 volt drop from a diode. So yep agree we could reduce this using germanium diodes that only have a 0.2-0.3 volt drop. Which logically tells us to join all pickup coils to just one bridge and keep the voltage up. But going for the Romero replication as the first steps.

  • First... what a beauty! I'm a design engineer... but you are an artist! Second, you will lose electrical efficiency using silicon diodes, 5% loss if you get 12V DC output. Do a bit of looking at Schottky diodes configured as a bridge rectifier, cut yoru losses in half. Do NOT try germanium, they would never handle the power. Next, don't try just using one bridge rectifier... if you cross-connect coil-sets, they will load each other down, since they are not synchronous. Love your work!

  • hi there, looks great. Just concerned, it might be a good idea when testing your motor have it running vertically insted of horizontally. That way if a magnet where to come loose, you'd be out of the firing line. Also zerofossilefuel has done research and says that the distance of magnet to coil is critical and even minute repositioning may increase your efficiency greatly. regards

  • @User2718218 that and the coi types... there are coils that are better for that pushing force... try different combos with the load on for the right lacements...

  • ypu should mount it on its side..... imagine if one of those popped out!!! :(

  • About diodes, putting more in parallel you will able to handle more current, the voltage will remain the same. 1N4007 is just a general purpose diode, not a high speed one. If you want more performance, use some high speed diodes from MBR family like MBR2060CT or equivalent.
