A slight change from my usual videos...
This one is for the brilliant 1980s Robin of Sherwood series starring Michael Praed (and later Jason Connery) and in particular a 2-part story from the 2nd series called 'The Swords of Wayland' which deals with a group of devil worshipping nuns and the mysterious Hounds of Lucifer.

I thought I'd try my hand at something other than Who, but don't worry I'll be back with more Doctor Who trailers soon!
(There's a couple of familiar faces from Peter Davison's final series as the Doctor in the trailer!)

Still, please watch and any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

  • A christian adaptation with lucifer leading the hunt and demons, this is nothing new.

  • Well, this is just a TV series, but it reminded me to that myth since it's widespread in the whole world since the same era than Robin Hood. I thinks it's the same legend but freely adapted for the screen.

  • Interesting about the spanish link, thanks. I own one of the hounds helmets worn in this episode. They are very well made.

  • Thanks. Yes, I know about the Herne & the Wild Hunt. It's just stretching it a bit to suggest the hounds of lucifer were to do with the gabriel hounds. The writer has never made such a comparison to my mind.

These arent mythical beings but servants of the cauldron of lucifer, juxtaposed to Herne & Robin. They dressed like this to appear as demons. The costumes were based on peoples of south america who wore cloaks & poles on their arms. When raises it looked like they had wings.

  • These are some of the reason why this series are considered the best version of robin Hood. Santa Compaña in my homeland.Galicia (Spain): Santa Compaña

  • Ernhe the hunter, i think it's also mentioned in this version of Robin hood: endotwikipediadotorg/wiki/Herne_the_Hunter

  • Yeah, the myth of the hounds of lucifer, that's typical from Germany, an ancient legend (even protohistoric or prehistoric) then it was expaned to the rest of europe in different forms, even here in Spain, we have a similar legend called the Estantigua. The idea comes from the myth of the Wild Hunt. endotwikipediadotorg/wiki/Wild_Hunt

  • @WiltatKansas Please explain.

  • The Hounds of Lucifer, that myth comes from Germany.
