A Cheap Computer Solution

Many systems now adays run $1,000+ for good performance. You don't have to spend that kind of money for a solid machine. You can just buy off of eBay (or similar such site) cheap, low end hardware, and put Linux on it. Some Linux distributions have been specifically built for these low end systems (the Lite Distributions), and therefore will fly on this low spec hardware. Plus, you save yourself a great deal of money that would otherwise be invested in things like virus protection and Microsoft Office, since Linux comes with everything a home user would need right out of the box.

@nick41324 We use a piece of software technology called a screen reader. There's JAWS for Windows, Window-Eyes, NVDA, System Access To Go, and on the Mac side there's VoiceOver, and on the Linux side (under the GNOME desktop environment) there's Orca, there's also Speakup.
