COLLIN RAYE
GALVANIZES THE ERA OF THE
ROCK N ROLL N COUNTRY MUSICIAN
ON
NEVER GOING BACK

Due April 28th
(Time Life)

Fairfax, VA (February 11, 2009) --- The irony of naming his new album Never Going Back isnt lost on Collin Raye. His new songs may subtly recall the great, organic music of a bygone era but instead of stepping back in time he pulls the sound right up into the future. At a time when pop hits are built by teams of master songwriters and musicians, Never Going Back (released April 28th on Time Life) is a welcome return to the art of the artist.

Mixing up the laid back rock and folk of mid-seventies Southern California with country and rock n roll, Raye creates a sophisticated and diverse album for the music fan who cheered when The Eagles won a country music Grammy. Never Going Back evokes the spirit of the day when an artist could record an album and perform it just as it sounds in a smoky club or on a stadium stage. No dancers, no pyrotechnics, no backing tracks and overdubs, just great songs by a great artist. Before this, Id never done an album where Ive wanted to immediately go out and perform the whole thing, explains Raye. Recorded in Alabamas historic Muscle Shoals, the album feels guided by the ghosts of the country, rock, blues and pop albums that the region cultivated throughout the 70s.

From the roaring, feel-good romp of Mid Life Chrysler to the powerful reworking of Without You, a duet with Grammy nominee Susan Ashton, Never Going Back bears another trademark of the LP years; a great listen from start to finish. While every tune is as finely crafted as the next, one song, in particular, remains unforgettable. The intensely personal Shes With Me, written by Raye for his severely neurologically ill granddaughter, is a poignant song of unconditional love.

This is the album Ive always wanted to do, says Raye, a weighty statement from the man who has four #1 Billboard country singles, 21 Top 10, four platinum albums, three AC hits, several CMA and ACM nominations and years of sold out tours already under his belt. And true to his word, hell head out on tour right as Never Going Back is released, ready to play every single track onstage each night.

  • I used to follow country music back in the 90's and Collin was always one of my favorites. I read up on him recently, seems he hasnt charted since around 2000. Who knows if its the winds of change in music, but this song clearly shows that Collin is better than ever.

  • @tscotwv - Thanks for the comment. Colin is very talented. He still has it. The album is fantastic. If you like his stuff from the 90s you will really love this new album.

  • Thank you for this song! I have a 9 yr old silent angel with Rett Syndrome named McKenna. She wasn't diagnosed until she was 5 yrs old. It is difficult to see our little girls regress without knowing why and feeling helpless because we can't stop it or help them. These silent little girls are such a blessing and we are blessed to be a part of their lives. Thank you for putting into words what is in our hearts.

  • A Collin Raye MASTERPIECE!

Good Lord, Collin how are you ever going to top SHE'S WITH ME? That Melody!! Those emotions!!! I listen over and over. You owe me a box of Kleenex!

God Bless HALEY MARIE and all ANGELS UNAWARE of the gift there lives bring to those who know them.

  • ZERO dislikes! That is unheard of on YouTube. It seems like there is always some jerk that dislikes things just to be contrary to everyone else.

I only hope that this song reaches everyone that really needs to hear it. This story is the epitome of someone seeing the good in something that everyone else would see as a burden. God Bless Collin Raye.

  • Dear Collin, I could have told you a long time ago that when your time comes to be at Heaven's pearly gates, there will be no doubt that you will be allowed in and yes, Haley will be waiting, will tell God "He's with me" and the Lord will just say "Of course he is". God only takes the best and take what comfort you can knowing that. I was 36 when I lost my dad and that was over 14 years ago. I still miss him terribly. I'll never understand why He sometimes takes our children first though. Kathy

  • where can i buy his album?

  • Great Song!! I was told about this song from someone who also has a special Angel, her name is Karley. She has several things that cause her to be alot like Haley, almost Identical. Even tho I no longer get to see her, she stays with me in my heart and prayers. I feel lucky to have gotten to spend the time I got with her. I still keep faith God hears all our prayers for all children. I try to think that God gives us these truly blessed children to help US in our life. Think how lucky we are.

  • i love country songs

  • This was like it was written just for my sweet daughter, Emily. Emily died 4 years ago at age 27 from complications of Rett Syndrome. Her Dad and I only hope that she will stand next to us in heaven one day and say, "they're with me". Thank you for this gift in song, Collin.

  • Condolences to the Raye Family. My disabled 18 yr old daughter passed away a month ago so this song gave me great peace. I will love to hold you again my sweet Kayla, you were such a special gift
