@outdoorsmen007 I just had the bike serviced and the problem was gear slipping. The dealer advised that the gears could be cleaned, however as there are only three replaceable parts, the whole unit needed to be replaced, as cleaning would only be a short term fix.

my bike does this also. do we need a new starter or is it the gear slipping on the starter shaft?

@dirtbikecowboy01 Yup, sure did. About $600 for labour and parts. The shop said there weren't any replaceable parts inside it.

Thanks for your quick response. Can you remeber how much it cost for repairs and also where are you located? Thanks again.

@peterlee543 It was about $600 AUD for labour and parts. That was near Goulburn.

The video shows the exact same problem i am having on my WR450. Could you please explain in more detail exactly what was wrong? What do you mean by "gear slipping"? Do you mean in the starter motor gearing (left side) or kick start gearing (right side)? Thanks.

@peterlee543 Hi - The dealer advised that the starter motor (gearing) was at fault. The whole unit was replaced.
