I have loved the Kinks since 1964. Wow what an affair it's been

all life we work but work is a bore; if life is for living...what's living for?
ray davies is one of my heroes. always will be.

You can't judge a songwriter by record sales. Ray Davies is right up there with Dylan and Lennon.
Jagger/Richards/McCartney aren't in the same league.
Pete Townshend calls Ray Davies the poet laureate of England.

After Lennon-McCartney, Jagger-Richards there is Ray Davies. If The Kinks would have had the record sales of The Stones or Beatles he would rank number one.

Long live Ray Davies!

I have seen him 3 x in last couple years... as good as ever for sure. Just got tix for Boston in Sept.

Saw him life three years ago, astonishing as ever! Hope the Kinks decide to do a reunion just for a couple of months...

He sounds as good as ever!
YouTube are to be congratulated for posting what is the best song from the last ten years. Ray Davies has been called a visionary genius, and he belongs right up there with William Blake, George Orwell, Joseph Conrad et al. In so far as they can be called English, so is he. In this song, an ageing rock star reviews his life with a certain tiredness and previews his death. Magnificent! He still knocks Dylan, Macca and Jagger - the only serious competition - into a cocked hat.
