Devon Kershaw returned home to spread a message of safety for cyclists and awareness on the road. The Share the Road Cycling Coalition is making Ontario roads safer.
The worst part? The driver who ran him down was back to work the next day. Witnesses say Kevin was doing everything right. He was on the road , far right lane, but the driver claimed he never saw him. He was behind him for 10 seconds! How could he have NOT seen him? How could he murder a man and be able to go back to work the next day. I've been cycling, following the rules and have had drivers open their door as they passed trying to knock me down. They did a couple times.
@ Cotton Top: My son-in-law used cycling as a way to commute to and from work. He wore all the safety gear and followed all the rules of the road. He commuted safely for 10 years. Then on July 26th 2011 a construction vehicle ran him down, from behind, and killed him instantly. Ever see an animal who was run over? Can you imagine how horrific the accident scene was? He was a husband and father of 2 girls, ages 10 and 7.
"they are all lance armstrong wannabees"?? No, just regular people and kids with regular jobs trying to enjoy a hobby in their free time. If you watch the video, the message of the video is for cyclists to ride responsibly, and for motorists to be aware of them on the road. 99.9% of cyclists are drivers/motorcyclists as well and are obviously aware of the rules of the road. I have never had a problem giving cyclists room while driving, takes only a few seconds.
But these guys are not trying to get to work, or make a living at this. Their all Lance Armstrong wannabees. They risk every one elses life every time they weave a little over the white line or cross an intersection without stopping!
If the rider is geared to exceed a speed of 15mph they should have to obey the traffic laws just like every other.

I feel bad for this guy, I really do. But if you dance with bears, you might get mauled.
The most pissed I have ever been while driving was due to cyclists, all top 5.
