not many could afford to buy expensive furniture in those days. whenever i see old commercial adverts from the 70s i am amazed how expensive things were! a vcr today you can buy for about £20. in the 70's you were looking at £3000 plus! absolutely ridiculous! now vcr's are so common they sell for next to nothing. how i longed for a vcr in those days! but my parents never owned one till the late 80's, so i missed out on recording classic 70's program mes. but tapes were expensive too!
