Was listening to the scanner on a sunday morning.. the fire came is as a central station alarm between 10 and 11 am... 2 engines and 1 ladder chief responding on the box... Im thinking, sunday , church, people, possible breafast ceremony candles etc. i didnt move. Appx 45 seconds later the box was upgraded to a full box assignment. i said its time to go.. Appx. 6 minutes away. i went and couldnt see any smoke to locate it but i had an idea were it was. .i was driving by and saw a bunch of people through the fence all looking in 1 direction. i parked and walked in. as the video starts the first hose is already charged on the ground. (small line) The people from the church were assisting with the second line. (big line) on the right roof you can see white smoking pushing through the vents. The first line was on the fire. the second line was then charged and you can see more white smoke pushing through the vents.. a few seconds later the roof caved in near the fire and cut off most of the water from the first 2 hoselines.. By the time more hoses were deployed the wing of the building was lost. It should not have been collapsing 8 - 10 minutes into the fire. Cambridge (and Mutal Aid) firefighters did an excellent job with saving the steeple, and the right side but weak construction prevented them from saving most of the left side
Couple of notes: while it is admirable they want to save their church, my thought was Holy S**t as I watched the young men carry the charged line into the building.
2. Wow! that building burned FAST!
3. Wonder if this is part of God's commentary on Romney and Huntsman's presidential aspirations?
