This piece is called Farewell my Concubine, as in Chen Kaige's award-winning film of the same title. The King was just defeated by the founding Emp of Hun dyn and is on the run w/ his beloved&talented conc. Feeling she is a burden to the king and his fleeing army, Princess Yu tries to cheer the king up by doing a martial dance, and then kills herself with the king's sword - one of the most touching stories, sung by Maestro Mei, the greatest operatic actor(Yes, its HE) of all time...
