This has nothing to do with new pins. You came in light, possibly threw it too hard or not enough hand. You were lucky not to leave more pins on the deck.

One thing is clear: He does not know how to bowl! Look at his sliding foot (via stop-action) on each shot. If his second shot had the same angle as the first he would have had the spare. Instead, he was way over to the right. When you leave the 5-pin on a pocket hit, just roll the same shot for the spare, Same starting point on the approach, same finishing board, and same spot on the lane. AND DON'T RUSH THE SHOT!

He rushed the line on the second shot, so the ball arrived at the foul line late....getting pulled to the right. He's also got too much speed, which does not give the pins enough time to mix. Based on what I saw, my guess is he's using a 12-14 pound ball...a lightweight. Get up to 16!
For the record, I was a PBA member for 6 years back in the 1980s.
