I think he a very solid a talented drummer, one of the best. I just think he never set down and developed a structured drum solo., e.g. Toad by Ginger Baker or Moby Dick by John Bonham. I think every time he did a solo, which was seldom, it was all improvisational.

He was not rock solid, yet remarkably responsive and explosive. He was unique.

Mitch was very underrated compared to Ginger and Keith Moon, but he was a far more accomplished drummer in many respects, although he was criticised as being too busy and for not being a solid timekeeper etc., To me Mitch was more of a jazz drummer and the comparisons with Tony Williams are valid.....he was a great foil for Jimi though- especially when they reverted to a solid bass player like Billy Cox who wasn't trying to solo along with them like Noel did in 1969....RIP Jimi, Mitch, Noel....

Finally someone besides me has said those words! lol i totally agree with you man, the main population really doesnt know who he is, they all shout peart or moon, when personally i think mitchell is better, mainly cause of the level of jazz influence he has and ive never considered him busy, i mean think about who he was playing with, Jimi Hendrix, only he could keep with hendrix...definitely my favorite rock drummer.
