This is a song in praise of Mary from St. Joseph's point of view.

(note: this is a second higher quality upload of the same video that was uploaded earlier in a lower quality version)

Regarding the origins of the song, Angelee relates: "In 1979, I wrote this melody to an English translation of a German poem by Stefan George called 'You Flawless as a Flame and Slender.' Thirty years later it remained a favorite, so I decided to write lyrics of my own that would preserve the original structure and flavor. I knew they needed to be about Mary, but I couldn't 'get an angle.' Then my priest gave a homily describing his ancestral village in Germany, whose church contains an image of Mary embracing all the villagers in her mantle. This led to the key line 'Enfolded by her starry mantle.' My priest's name being Joseph made me want to somehow incorporate Mary's spouse. Suddenly the song was a celebration of Mary and Joseph's chaste yet sacramental union."

St. Joseph's praises forerun those of all of us, who love Mary's "grasp of God's ways."

ST. JOSEPH'S WEDDING SONG

She, boundless as sun's blazing splendor,
She, blossom plucked from moonlight sheer --
The dawn and dusk alike commend her,
She, wellspring sure, who has no peer.

Enfolded by her starry mantle,
Strong hold I forth her grasp of God's ways --
She, all the gardens man's tongue can tell,
Last evening's and first morning's praise.

She is the very valley's lily,
And she the rarest Sharon's rose
That once was grown or flowering will be,
Who flings love's glance where'er she goes.

She, boundless as sun's blazing splendor,
She, blossom plucked from moonlight sheer --
The dawn and dusk alike commend her,
She, wellspring sure, who has no peer.
