Review - Dark Messiah of Might & Magic

In this review, I take a look at the highly underrated action-RPG Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, which is almost nothing like the rest of the Might & Magic games.

ESRB Rating: Mature (17+) - Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Language, Partial Nudity

All settings maxed at 1024x768, 6x AA, 16x AF. Watch in high quality for best visuals.

System requirements: Windows XP; 2.6GHz Athlon or Pentium 4 CPU; 512MB RAM; 128MB graphics card (GeForce FX/6/7 series or newer, Radeon 9/X series or newer); 7GB hard drive space; DVD-ROM drive (unless you got it on Steam); Steam is required for multiplayer.

To clarify my review scores (they're "rough" scores, meaning it's not supposed to be some sort of percentage or anything):
1 or lower = Terrible. Avoid at all costs.
1.5 = Has a few redeeming qualities, but still sucks and should be avoided.
2 = Mediocre (Sub-par). You'll probably want to avoid this one.
2.5 = Underwhelming, but playable.
3 = Average. Worth playing, but probably not at full price.
3.5 = Good, but has issues.
4 = Excellent, but has a few problems that could probably be fixed through patching.
4.5 = Exceptional. Better than 4 but still has a few problems that could be ironed out.
5 = Outstanding. Stuff in this category is pretty much "must own."

that first person shooter with rpg elements is called FIRST PERSON FIGHTER.geesh.

1. This isn't an FPS. It's first-person action.

2. It's technically also considered an "action-RPG."

3. First-person fighter would be something like Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat in first-person.

Can somebody please tell me if people play the multiplayer on the PC. I've played the story countless times on the Xbox 360, but nobody plays multiplayer.

What a horrible review !!! Say 2 words about the graphics and sound, like graphics are good and sound is ok and then move on to the gameplay. I want to know what this game is about. What kind of leveling system does it have? Skills, mana, items, crafting ....

@DWTerminator YES to variety! Not only are the many weapons and their coherent skills awesome, but the spells are practicly designed for environmental warfare(pardion english).

I whole heartedly yield on the RPG aspect, good sir Terminator. So- bear with me lol^^ First you need a sword(shortsword for longer fights, right?) then you do this:

doubleclick*hold*ALTstrafe left and release for powerstrike. This combo delivers two swift swipes and a power strike. please try it? (:

You basically use exploits to beat the game then... tsk tsk tsk. Much more fun to blast foes with spells or demolish them with the melee weapons.

To clarify what makes it an RPG: the skills (stats) do significantly influence the gameplay and your character grows/improves over time, and there are 4 endings brought about by your choices in the game. If those two elements weren't here, it'd be a standard FPA.

It´s great fun playing without combat skills, but I could never beat the game without ANY skill point. Perhaps you still can read my removed comment, but i´ll say it again; I only use the short sword and the adrenaline surge- I block to abort "impact animation" reseting the sword arm for another power strike. Repeat. Its hilarious ;)
