  • @walkdeep i agree i had to read it for an American History class in college and it was very moving. i will certainly read it again and take in its meaning.

  • the sun lught that has brought life and healing to you, has brought stripes and death to me

  • Tiz more than a mite quaint that the monarchy from which the USA broke, banished slavery in all its forms in the 1830s, and it took the USA, the "free" new society another 130 years, until the Kennedys...

  • Must be some dummies on here commenting on Obama. I have always agreed with Mr. Douglass' view on the 4th of July. Why was it damn near 90 years before any actual "independence" for ALL Americans?

  • "I will unite with anybody to do right and with no one to do wrong."

    ~ Frederick Douglass

  • ROMANCE

  • there is a huge difference between misspeaking, and forgetting how many fucking states there are.

  • @hint0122 you're still clinging to that 57 states thing huh? You know I was a really good speller as a kid and did many spelling bees. One day I was really nervous and accidentally started spelling Cave with a K now I obviously knew how to spell cave but I MISSPOKE!

  • the only difference is that hes black.

  • @hint0122 just like... every US president ever?
