  • Canada!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You'll have to read all the comments to see what it was in reply to. The general jist of my post was outlining how much Canadians draw on their ancestry when it comes to identifying who they are. It's either "French-Canadian" or "British/Irish-Canadian". How about "Canadian"? My parents are poms but I dont identify myself as"English-Australian".

It adds to the segregation, not integration.

I lived in Canada when I was younger and really picked up on the attitude problem between them both.

  • That's such an easy yet false generalisation for us Australians to make (US Americans also?).

I on the other hand think that the cultural and linguistic differences are an enriching aspect of North America.

Moreover, their geographical proximity should help to promote a more humane global community that's respecful of differences.

As for the Aussie republic, that's a different issue about making official what already is mostly the de facto reality - But what relevance has it got here?
