qy100 Yamaha sequencer can use a rotary effect on the organ tones. This short vid shows using
the +/- buttons on the seq to adjust the rotary effect speed and the rotary effect depth. It is sort of hit
and miss using the buttons-knobs would be better but it is what it is, as they say. To increase the
response time after holding one button, press the other one at the same time to make it change
faster. Shift will also help but your fingers are spread over the entire qy to do that.

Using a flashlight to show the lcd, using one hand to hold the qy100 and the other to press the
buttons. Next vid will show using an external controller to make it much easier and faster.

  • I don't have the qy100 anymore. did look online at the manual and it only had

mention of the portamento in the glossary, not the index. It did say a higher

time number increased the portamento time and a zero time number had no

    glide effect at all.

  • anyone know where or who can mod me a backlight on this thing??

  • @dmarco46

dunno know about backlighting. do know the Rm1x is

backlit and does most everything the qy100 does and more.

  • everything is from scratch.

Recorded a drum track/bass track/organ track and saved as a song in the qy

memory card. Used a midi keyboard to program the notes instead of the

little keys on the qy although I suppose somebody could use the little keys

which are not easy to use. They don't respond to pressure very well.

You can save up to 20 songs as I recall in the qy based on a total memory of

notes used. Not sure if that answers your question.

  • @pirinst Thx. Will be getting one very soon.

  • Hope you can post some music once you get yours. Super easy to build

songs on it and so portable. The storage card might be an ebay purchase

as it is a smart media, I think,. I can probably walk you through sequencing

once you get yours if you are building songs.

  • @dmarco46 I can teach you how to do it yourself. I added a backlight to my QY70, it was a fun project.

  • how do i glide from one note to another with this qy100 with portamento??

  • It reminds me "Another Brick in the Wall"...

  • mate whats going on? were you supposed to be in bed or something?

  • BUT is it battery-portable too?

  • @pirinst Thx again. Nice of you to offer advice. The reviews for this unit are all great, but some people say it's easy to figure out to use and others give up and say it's too hard. I'll be happy if I can just generate good sounding rhythm accompaniments for my keyboard to create a fuller one man band sound. Look forward to seeing more projects from you using the QY100.
