On-Line Interactive Virtual Environment (OLIVE™) is a powerful, dynamic software platform for development and deployment of customized, private, secure virtual worlds where users collaborate, plan, train, rehearse and operate over computer networks using a video game-like 3-D user interface.
This video shows a demonstration of using a virtual world for emergency preparedness training. This example has citizens hurt by an explosion and paramedics having to coordinate the triage and treatment process. All of the avatars are played by real people. With OLIVE, remote users receive instructor-led, web-based, or Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM)-compliant training and participate in 3-D learning scenarios.
