Portland's investments in bicycle infrastructure has lead to incredible bike ridership, over 6% of trips in Portland are taken by bike.

The Hawthorne Bridge carries 7200 bicycles a day, bikes make up nearly 20% of the bridge's traffic each day.

  • I am blind and I would love to give space for riders so I could feel better about going over bridges in Portland . I love bikes tbut not when they are where I should be. I have never driven nor biked.I would vote to give 10% more

  • Yeah Greg, you can ditch the helmet when you stop

  • Many people talk about safety and have helmets. That means they don't feel really safe. To get this right, get cars, bikes and pedestrians on separate lanes. See the biking infrastructure in the Netherlands. It worked here for decades and you don't need to wear those terrible helmets any more.
