Does anyone know why this band is called synestesia? Is it Finnish for synesthesia? or does it mean something else?

I know that keyboards can almost be just as good of an instrument as guitar in Metal in some cases, it just depends on the band. But in MDM the only band that i have heard to date that actually does pull off a good blend between keyboards and guitars without sounding meh is Kalmah. I guess it has something to do with how their songs are built, they just have really rich melodies and so many great hooks. Its strange i enjoy them because i really dont like CoB, Norther, etc, and such similar bands

@Lonoom I think I was a little too vague. I write music for a band so I would know to listen for things other than guitars and vocals. I've been playing music for pretty much half my life so far. These guys are of course talented musicians and upon listening to it again I can say that I do like this song. And I'm all for an over use of keyboards. It's what I'm gonna do with my own music. I like having another instrument there not just for atmosphere, but to give more versatility my music.

But you also have to pay some attention what happens in the music other than the guitars, such as the low growling unlike many Melodeath bands who use those annoying high screams and blend it with cheesy clean vocals. Also things such as their lyrics being in their native language, and not overdoing the keyboards, etc. and their music also just has a much more atmospheric feel overall than most other MDM bands. Basically all of these things is what makes this a band that stands from the majority

@Lonoom Well I don't mean to sound like a pretentious ass because of this, but I play guitar. When I hear these bands I know what they're doing musically and it just seems like there's a lot of Generic bands. I'd say this was pretty standard as far as melodic death metal goes. It feels to me like bands like wintersun, the absence, obscura and Augury just have a lot more substance, but that's just the way I see music. If people like this band I'm not gonna trash them for it. You know?

@pppoooppp Of course this has some similarities to other bands, its still "Melodeath" after all, but come on, this isn't just "another band" like you make it sound, they have a pretty original sound and this band easily stands out from the rest of thousands of horrible melodeath acts imo!

It's the boring gothenburg shit like Scar Symmetry, In Flames, Soilwork and the likes that always sounds the same!

It's okay. Nothing I haven't heard before (that's why I get tired of Melodic Death Metal). Wish there were more Progressive Death Metal bands out there.
