  • Beautiful!!

Arun, what is the origin of this cheez 'jhoole nataraj" ? it's not a traditional kirana bandish as far as I know. Anyway, marvellously sung - the pace of drut ektaal suits him so well!

  • this drut bandish jhoole nataraj has been sung by late Roshanara Begum of Pakistan beautifully. Roshanara Begum was very close relative and disciple of Ustad Abdul Karim Khan of Kirana Gharana.

  • sounds more like hamsadhwani in the begining

  • The difference in both raaga's is as follows: In Hamsadhwani Madhyam & Dhaivat are absent in ascend and descend where as in Shankara, Rishabh and Madhhyam are absent in ascend and only madhyam is absent in the3 descend. Otherwise all notes r same in both raagas.

  • yes, of course. the pa-ni-sa-ga-re phrase in shankara is very reminscent of hamsadhwani. you will also hear it in bhimsen's 'kal na pare'.
