Are you playing directly line-in to your interface or are you mic-ing an amplifier? Either way, what gear do you use? Just out of curiousity..

Line in. Just using an MRS-8 for recording and effects, lined it straight into the sound card and hit record on Youtube.

Any tips on how to pull this off on a four-stringed violin?

Most of what I played was in the violin range, and when I dipped into the C string it was to grab the F# and E below the G string - so you can just go up an octave for those two notes as substitutes, or take that whole passage up an octave.

Another way is to play the whole thing in a different key - a minor third higher, but then you'll have to be comfortable playing in C minor...

OMG nice! Is this possible on viola? Thats all I know how to play... do you think I could do it on diffrent strings like A insted of E and C insted of G.

Actually, the lower 4 strings of my 5-string violin are tuned to the viola strings (C G D A) so you can definitely play that on viola. You will just have to shift to higher positions to play the high notes that I play on the E string :)
