What a magnificent bird. Thanks for the excellent video.

@EclecticDiscus Bird in general honestly. People get a parakeet and thing they know everything about birds...trust me i know because I have had it happen to me. We have a Galah cockatoo and its the best bird in the word! people just like to talk with no experience to back it up.

Great clip and very true.

@EclecticDiscus LOve it when mine chews on his toys :) He literaly destoys them and harms no human xD

I have a cockatiel who is very picky about who gets to scratch his head and with one hand.
Knowing bird body language is the key to not gettng your fingers bitten...in this macaws case...off.

@kate2035 As a bird owner, I have to say this and understand I am NOT trying to be ignorant. But if you have to ask those questions, then maybe you shouldn't have one. :S
Birds are not dogs. Birds are not cats. Birds are creatures with incredibly diverse personality and require as much attention as a toddler. You need to research and find these answers for yourself, and not from random people on the internet.

how much do they cost? and can live in vermont?
-
@PoliceNavidad2007 don't get a macaw if you aren't going to be home with it for a good part of the day, every day. They need a LOT of social interaction to be happy.
-
A bird that deserves respect! A bit from him would be nasty!
-
i you lived in a rural area could u train it up and let it fly free by day in your yard and let it come home at night to roost? i love the birds just seems wrong to cage a bird of that size and intelligence.

Killa beak.

Your videos are very informative. I've been doing a lot of reading/research because I plan on getting a Hyacinth macaw someday. I've interacted and played with a couple of them before, but not for very long. I know they have incredible beak strength. I keep reading that they need to be taught to NOT "mouth" your hand, no matter how gentle they do it; and I understand the reasoning behind that, but, HOW would you teach this to a Hyacinth? PLEASE email me at ikeepdancin@aol.com
Thanks.

Is what that Hyacinth was doing was testing him. To see if he was scared. ANY bird will run all over you if you let them. Beautiful hyacinth!

@EclecticDiscus thats my name don't wear it out :p

Idiot

@EclecticDiscus happy to make your day brighter, sunshine!
Most people do not realize that beak can take your hand clear off at the wrist in one chomp! People, please don't get a parrot or any pet if you work full time and plan to leave it in the cage, alone for it's whole life. An hour a day interaction is NOT ENOUGH for any parrot of any size. PERIOD.

So much miss information on Macaws out there.
Mine is 28 years old, had him since he was 5 months old from a breeder. He is the most loving curious pet in the world. He has never bitten me and the door of his age is always open when anyone is home. He sleeps on my bed and is potty trained to his cage and only chews his toys.
