Short video pertaining to a special plant . Read below for further insight .

The Thistle plant has a few known species throughout the United States , growing in moist damp soils and dry fields . All species are edible even though they slightly differ in terms of appearance . The edible parts are the young shoots and stalks of this plant . Careful of the spines , remove them by scraping them with a stone blade at right angles . Save them for sewing needles . The Thistle is full of water like celery and will quench thirst if water source is not available . The young shoots can be boiled or steamed into food .
