The press was there to see Tua and one month old "Baby O". Although the first orangutan baby to be born in a U.S. zoo was born at the Philadelphia Zoo (in the 1920's), and a total of 22 orangutan babies have been born at the Zoo since then, this is the first baby orangutan born at the Zoo in 17 years.
As you can see in the video, Tua is not only a wonderful first time mother who never puts her baby down, but she is also very good at media relations. She calmly went about her daily routine as if no one was watching her.
You can view my other video recorded the same day here:

The Philadelphia Zoo is very much focused on conservation efforts to save Tua's relatives in Sumatra and Borneo.
Visit the Philadelphia Zoo's website to learn more about the Zoo's orangutan conservation efforts and how and what you can do to help.
