I am self-employed myself, it is highway robbery. When my group plan (Freelancers Union) switched carriers, the old insurance company sent me the option to buy the coverage directly from them. The yearly cost for retail (non-group) coverage for a family....$43,000 and that was three years ago. I still have the actual letter HIP sent me, because I found the whole thing so absurd. The average family income in NY is only around $46,000.

According to the OISR 2008 education rankings, the US is 10th in education in the world. Despite the fact that we dump enormous amounts of money in education, we continue to fall among developed nations. How would you feel about having the 10th-ranked medical system in the world? Are you ok with that? Sure, we can have public health care, but I'm not ok being taxed to death for it and having to watch the quality drop.

obamas option wont cover anybody until 2012 anyways, so even if it gets passed you gotta wait another 3 years to get covered anyways buddy. the main reason why healthcare costs skyrocket is technology anyways. It's alot more expensive to treat patients with modern advanced medicine then it was with less effective methods in the past

How about after health care reform, we the people demand that no more money can be received, in any way, from outside sources to political representivies. You can still contribute to a political party, or indiopendat pool, however the money is held and dispersed equally among politicains. No more LOBBYING!! NO MORE BUYING OUR GOVERNMENT!!

Single Payer - Most of the "industrial" countries have it. There are many ways to implement. All lower costs and cover everyone. We have public education. We can have public health care.
